Wellington Almorous Brown

June 18, 1934 - February 28, 2015

Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church

It is with sincere sadness that we announce the passing of Wellington Almorous Brown. Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. A man who was truly an icon to his family. Wellington A. Brown, also affectionately known as "Sonny", was a man of God, first and foremost. There was not a second in the day that Sonny Brown wasn't talking to his God. He was a man of principle who loved his family and his birth land, Jamaica. No matter how hard you tried, you were not going to be successful in getting Sonny Brown to leave his beautiful home of Jamaica.

As a youth, Wellington passed the Senior Cambridge examination and attended Jamaica School of Agriculture. He graduated with a Plant Surveyor degree.

Wellington however also had an entrepreneurial spirit. In 1954, he started his first business while attending school. For his first business, he designed, produced and sold wooden racquets for children. He sold these during the Christmas season.

This was the beginning of his career as a well-known, well-loved, successful salesman in his time. As a hobby, Wellington loved to raise birds, rabbits, and even bees.

Dad,
Ever since your passing, this week has been my most difficult week of the year. With Kim's passing on the 15th, your birthday on the 18th and Father's Day typically 1 or 2 days away, if not the same day, has made it very challenging for me to get through. As you know, I used to plan my visits to Jamaica during this time, so that I could spend both your birthday and Father's Day with you. Now I am resolved to spending it with you in memories only. Thank you for all the love, guidance, teachings you instilled in me as a child. I appreciate it Now more than ever. Loving you Always.
